Yummy Insects

We had a great time learning about insects. We learnt that insects
have feelers, 3 body parts and 6 jointed legs. We created our own
insects which are good to eat!

Ladybug made from jelly and grapes.

Chocolaty caterpillar!

Yummy and healthy butterfly.

PBL 2

After our examination, we kept ourselves busy with PBL. This is our
second PBL project for the year. This time round, we were given the
task of designing a garden for Mrs Brown who had purchased a flat in
Woodlands.
After our teacher introduced the problem to us, we got into our groups
and formed our own 'landscaping company'.
We created our KND chart and discussed what we know about the
problem, listed the things that we needed to know and planned what we
needed to do.

We went on a learning journey to Gardenasia in order to learn more
about plants and landscaping. We also learnt how to take care of
plants and how to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.

Some of the water features we saw there too!

Fun with Mathematics

Our school is always coming up with new things to make the
learning of Mathematics fun and exciting. Besides doing
Mathematics Project and Mathematics Trail, we had a little
taste of Mathematics performance task.

We are required to apply our knowledge of length and mass
in order to complete the task given. Although it was a simple
activity, we found it to be quite fun and would love to have
more of such activity next year.

Be Yourself Day

We had a 'Be Yourself Day' competition last Thursday. Each class
sent a representative who dressed up in beautiful and unique
costumes. The participants talked about their costumes. Some
sang, danced and did cute tricks for the judges.
Captain Hook represented our class. Although he did not win,
he had fun and enjoyed himself.
Below are the winners of the competition:
A Korean singer and dancer, an Indian freedom fighter and
a Green Wizard.

Learn Grammar @ the Hub

In Admiralty Primary School, our teachers take the teaching and learning of grammar seriously. The members of the English Department came together and created the Grammar Hub.
Charts explaining the grammar rules and the different parts of speech
can be found here. There are also cool grammar games that can be used to make the learning and teaching of grammar fun and exciting.

We went to the Grammar Hub to revise for our exams. We used
the charts to help us recall the grammar rules. We then created
sentences to show the correct use of the different parts of speech.
We wrote our sentences on sticky notes.

We pasted the notes on the wall and did a gallery walk to
read the sentences that were written by our classmates.

We enjoyed the session very much and we will visit the hub again
to play the games there.
You can see more photos of our activity below.

Fun with Graphs

Last week we wanted to create our own graphs. We decided to
create graphs on our favourite fruits. We worked in groups.
Each member chose a fruit and drew the picture of the fruit
that he/ she had chosen.
Then we had to gather data. We approached our schoolmates
during recess and asked them to select one favourite fruit out of
the 5 we showed them. They then took a sticker and put it on the
picture of the fruit of their choice.

Using the data collected, we went back to class to create our own
graphs. Everyone had a part to play. Some drew lines, some cut
and pasted the symbols and some did the writing.

Then we took turns to come up with a mathematical statement
each based on our graphs.

Finally our graphs are ready!

Everyone was given the chance to take part in the presentations.

We worked well together and created all these wonderful graphs.
We are really proud of our work!
