Problem Based Learning

The Problem
As part of our PBL project we had to take the role of a
housing agent and promote Woodlands to our client,
Mr Brown.

We created a KND chart to help us understand the problem,
asked questions to clarify the problem and planned what we
needed to do in order to solve our problem.

The Resources
We then gathered information from different sources -
the internet, the library, brochures, newspaper cuttings,
our friends and our teacher.

The Products
We decided on different ways of presenting the information
to Mr Brown. Two groups decided to do powerpoint presentations,
two groups did posters and two groups made 3-D models.

The Photos
The photos below will show more of the processes that
took place and the products of our project.

Games Trail

On the last week of school, we got to go through the games trail.
We had the opportunity to play three traditional games.
We learnt how to play tin cans, pick up sticks and snakes & ladders.

I had so much fun playing snakes & ladders with my friend.

It was not easy to walk on these. I had to balance myself well.

I like playing pick up sticks. I had to pick them up slowly
and carefully.
Look at the pictures below to see how much fun we had!

BBCP - Eureka

Pencil Holder Project

Another interesting lesson for BBCP - Eureka.
Here we had to create our very own pencil holders
using the scrap materials which could be easily found
around the house. We thought about what we wanted
to create and started collecting the necessary materials.
We spent about 45 minutes making our pencil holders
in class. We enjoyed the session very much!

Take a look at our final products below.

Delicious and Yummy Adjectives

In order to make the learning of adjectives fun and yummy,
we had an ice cream party. We spent some time putting
different toppings on our ice cream. We had chopped nuts,
chocolate and rainbow sprinkles, chocolate chips and chocolate
syrup. We came up with many adjectives to describe our ice cream.

The best part of the whole activity - eating
our ice cream of course!

BBCP - Eureka

Project - Save The Egg
This activity required us to design and create a
'vehicle' that will prevent an egg from breaking
when dropped from a certain height.
We we given the same number of balloons,
drinking straws, A4 paper, newspaper and elastic bands.
We had to complete this task in two periods.

Planning Stage
We found that it is important to plan what we
want to do. We were given 10 minutes to think
about what we want to create and how to do it.

Let The Creative Juices Flow
We were given 30 minutes to put our plans into action.
It was not easy. Some of us were too excited that we
could not think straight. We had problems with bursting
balloons too!! Some of us had to change our plan because
our balloons burst. We realised that we have to work well
as a team if we want to finish our 'vehicle' on time.

Our Final Product
These are the 'vehicles' that we were able to
create with the materials and within the 30 minutes given.

Moment of Truth
After completing our 'vehicles', it was time to put
them to the test. We went up the fourth floor of
our school building and released our 'vehicles'
to see if the eggs would survive the trip down.......
It was an exciting yet scary moment for all of us!

Sad to say most of our eggs did not survive the trip. Only one egg went away with 'minor injuries.'
